WOMEN OF INDIA

A profound journey into the lives and worlds of Indian women

WOMEN OF INDIA

Small Group Travel : Max 10 – 12 Pax

WOMEN OF INDIA travels into diverse communities meeting Indian women from all walks of life. It does so with intelligent and empathetic facilitators who have vast experience in negotiating the complex protocols of Indian society. That the women with whom we talk and connect love the experience so deeply is testament to the program and to our facilitator’s ability to put these women at ease.

This is not a journey with a treatise to prove or a philosophy to support, it is a journey of connection to another culture. The conversations, the time spent together, the warmth and joy that we experience are the point of the journey.

Well, that and exploring some of India’s most fascinating and culturally rich places – the Golden City of Jaisalmer, the Blue City of Jodhpur, the spiritual heart of India – Varanasi, while starting and ending in Delhi.

If real travel is a journey into another world, then WOMEN OF INDIA is real travel at its most profound, its most joyous and its most human.

Women of India takes you into intimates spaces that explores the conplex and rich lives of Indian women!

Enter a remarkable world of Indian women!

YOUR PROCESS

Women of India is part of the Story Hunters roster of programs that AJA Events has pioneered. It relies on the simple but profound idea that for travel to be meaningful travellers should meet and engage with the people of that country. It should attempt to leave everyone a little better off for the experience.

How does it work?

  • The Conversations: Each day, as well as travelling to places of historical and cultural significance, will feature an intimate conversation with India women from all walks of life. Translators familiar with the local dialect and cultural protocols will ask about the lives, aspirations and family of the women we meet.
  • Questions from Travellers: After the initial conversation directed led by the translators, there will be an opportunity to ask specific questions. These will be interpreted by the facilitators to avoid any cultural embarrassment.
  • After the Conversations: The conversations are structured so that people stay to enjoy a meal with the group. We have found that this is often the highlight of the experience. For some, it will be the first time they have eaten Western food, or be served, or sit in a cafe. Sharing food together is an act of great significance in India society.
